Short CV of DR- Mohammed Al Rumaihi

Born in 1942, Professor Mohamed Ghanem Alrumaihi is a Professor of political sociology at Kuwait University since 1973. He has written extensively on political sociology, social change in the Arabian Gulf region, and the cultural changing of Arab world. He has published more than twenty five books some of them in English, and over two hundred articles. He served as head of department, and as assistant Dean at the college of arts/ Kuwait University, before it became college of social .Sciences

He served as the Editor in Chief of Awan, a daily political, Kuwaiti Newspaper, as of November 18th 2007- 2010. He was also, Editor in chief of the prestigious well known monthly Magazine (Alarabi) for seventeen years [1981-1998]. Served as the General Secretary of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) of Kuwaiti Government 1998-2011, founder and editor in chief for daily and monthly publications, an Advisor on various Committees on Education, Information, Culture and politics, for the Kuwaiti Government, and private institutions in the Gulf region, member of the board of:  (diplomatic institute – Kuwait foreign affairs Ministry) ACK, Kuwait, Doha institute for graduate studies, Qatar , Babtain Cultural foundation Kuwait 

Dr. Al Rumaihi has served as member of various Committees within the Kuwait Government, (1994 – 1997) member of the Advisory board for the Council of ministers headed by Kuwait Prime, member of a number of working commissions on general education and higher education, member of the boards on information, culture policies and planning, member of the Gulf Studies Center Advisory Board at the American University of Kuwait and member of the Austrian College in Kuwait, as will serving in prize and publication committees  of KFAS.

He has published more than twenty five books on the political Sociology of the Arab Gulf Region, Arab Political Culture, and Current Affairs of Arab region. Founder and editor in chief of the Journal of gulf and Arabian Peninsula studies [1975] still published by Kuwait University, and the fonon (Art) monthly Magazine [2001] published by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters

Dr. Al Rumaihi contributes weekly articles, syndicated throw the Gulf Countries, Alrai alam daily newspaper in Kuwait, Alwatan Dailies in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman, Al-Awast daily in Bahrain, Al-nahar daily in Beirut, Al-Ahram daily in Egypt. And a biweekly article in Alhayat international paper in London, (Pan Arab) and Gulf News (Dubai- English) and weekly article Alsharq Al-awast based in London. Participated and contributed to a number of seminars, lectures, and international conferences on the Gulf and Arab Current Affairs in Kuwait and Arab countries, USA, Britain, India, Iran, Japan and other countries

Dr. Al Rumaihi received a number of awards such as Honorary Award in Social and Economic studies From KFAS Kuwait in 1980, Ibn-Sina Award for international Cultural Activities Moscow in 1990, Sultan al Uways Award for humanities and future studies Dubai-UAE in 1996, Republic of France award of “Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” in 2003, and in 2010 the state of Kuwait highest honorary award for life achievement.
